About This Role

GTE Agency is seeking an enthusiastic Mascot and dedicated Handler to represent a high-profile brand as an iconic character. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals or teams to engage with the public in a fun and dynamic environment. While experience is preferred, it is not required.

Team members will work directly with location staff, participating in meet & greets with event attendees, and potentially special activities, award ceremonies, or presentations. Responsibilities include distributing stickers, coupons, and other promotional items. The team must adhere to provided guidelines and thrive in a fast-paced setting. Enthusiasm and a positive attitude are crucial as you bring joy to event-goers eager to meet these beloved characters.

Event Details:

  • Time: 7:30 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Location: Walmart #2537, 1515 DANA DRIVE, Redding, CA 96003

Roles & Responsibilities:

Mascot - $30/hr

The Mascot will embody the iconic character, bringing it to life for event attendees.

  • Must be 5’7” - 6’0” to properly fit the costume.
  • Ability to wear the full costume for the entire shift, with scheduled breaks.
  • Possess an outgoing personality and the ability to convey expressiveness through non-verbal performance and gestures.
  • Pose for photos with event attendees upon request.
  • Adhere to all provided rules and guidelines for performing as a well-known character, including no speaking, always being in full costume, and using only approved poses and hand gestures.
  • Maintain constant communication with your Account Executive before and after the event.

Handler - $23/hr

The Handler serves as the Mascot's eyes and ears, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience.

  • Possess an outgoing personality with excellent verbal and people skills, demonstrating assertiveness and engagement.
  • Interact positively with event attendees, generating excitement for the character and brand.
  • Own a smartphone with reliable internet access/service, sufficient data storage, screenshot, and GPS capabilities.
  • Capture a minimum of 20+ event photos and store them on your device for 10 days.
  • Email/text all event photos and recap photos to your Account Executive within 24 hours of the event.
  • Assist in the successful return of the costume; this involves correctly repackaging the costume and leaving it in the store, noting its location in the recap for pick-up (no additional pay for this option), OR dropping off a UPS package at the end of the shift for an additional bonus.
  • Maintain constant communication with your Account Executive, including check-in geo-tagged photos and regular updates.

As representatives of the character and brand, both team members must act in accordance with client guidelines provided upon booking, handling these iconic characters with care and respect.

Both team members must be able to stand for the entire shift and lift 25 lbs, as the role may involve moving supply packages. Reliability is crucial; no-shows, last-minute cancellations, and inappropriate behavior before or during events will not be tolerated.

There is an optional $15 bonus for teams who take the costume box directly to UPS immediately following the event. This can be completed by either the Mascot or Handler.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Take photos with event attendees as requested

  • Interact with event attendees while maintaining a positive attitude
