TxDOT Pedestrian Safety Awareness

We are seeking energetic and outgoing individuals to join our WALKR Street Team, an integral part of TxDOT’s statewide Pedestrian Safety initiative. This campaign will deploy walking billboard teams across all 25 TxDOT districts, focusing on cities with the highest rates of pedestrian-related traffic crashes. Kicking off during National Pedestrian Safety Month, this initiative aims to remind both drivers and pedestrians to stay alert and watch out for each other.

As a key member of the WALKR Street Team, you will represent TxDOT’s Pedestrian Safety initiative. This involves wearing backpack billboards and walking pre-determined routes at busy intersections to create a strong visual presence and maximize community impact and campaign visibility.

Here’s what you’ll do:

• Wear a backpack billboard while walking pre-determined routes at busy intersections.
• Engage with drivers and pedestrians, distributing branded slap band giveaways.
• Activate campaign safety messages while cars are stopped.
• Ensure all routes and safety protocols are diligently followed.
• Maintain a positive, approachable, and energetic attitude throughout your shift.
• Work alongside your team and support the Team Lead with on-site needs.

What to expect:

• Environment: You will spend most of your shift outdoors, walking and on your feet, maintaining an active, visible, and engaging presence.
