TxDOT Pedestrian Safety Awareness

We’re hiring energetic and outgoing individuals to join our WALKR Street Team, an integral part of TxDOT’s statewide Pedestrian Safety initiative. This campaign features walking billboard teams in all 25 TxDOT districts, focusing on cities with the highest rates of pedestrian-related traffic crashes. Kicking off during National Pedestrian Safety Month, this initiative aims to remind both drivers and pedestrians to stay alert and watch out for each other.

As a key member of the WALKR Street Team, you will represent TxDOT’s Pedestrian Safety initiative by wearing backpack billboards and walking predetermined routes at busy intersections, ensuring a strong visual presence. Your role is to create a visual and interactive experience that leaves a lasting impression on drivers and pedestrians.

What You’ll Do:

• Wear a backpack billboard while walking pre-determined routes at busy intersections.
• Be active, visible, and engaging throughout your shift, primarily spent walking outdoors.
• Distribute branded slap band giveaways to drivers and pedestrians.
• Activate the campaign’s safety messages when cars are stopped at intersections.
• Follow all provided walking paths and safety protocols for each activation.
• Work collaboratively with your team and support the Team Lead with on-site needs.

What to Expect:

• Environment: Most of your shift will be spent outdoors, walking and on your feet.
• Maintain a positive, approachable, and energetic attitude to maximize community impact and campaign visibility.
