WALKR Pedestrian Safety Initiative

We are seeking energetic and outgoing individuals to join our WALKR Street Team, an integral part of TxDOT’s statewide Pedestrian Safety initiative. This campaign will deploy walking billboard teams across all 25 TxDOT districts, focusing on cities with the highest rates of pedestrian-related traffic crashes. Kicking off during National Pedestrian Safety Month, this initiative aims to remind both drivers and pedestrians to stay alert and watch out for each other.

As a key member of the WALKR Street Team, you will represent TxDOT’s Pedestrian Safety initiative. You will wear backpack billboards while walking predetermined routes at busy intersections, creating a strong visual presence to maximize community impact and campaign visibility.

What You'll Do:

• Wear a backpack billboard while walking pre-determined routes at busy intersections.
• Be active, visible, and engaging throughout your shift, spending most of your time walking outdoors.
• Engage with drivers and pedestrians, distributing branded slap band giveaways.
• Activate the campaign’s safety messages when cars are stopped at intersections.
• Follow all provided walking paths and safety protocols for each activation.
• Work collaboratively with your team and support the Team Lead with on-site needs.

What to Expect:

You will spend most of your shift outdoors, walking and on your feet, maintaining a positive, approachable, and energetic attitude. This role brings the campaign to life by making you the face of WALKR on the streets, creating a visual and interactive experience that leaves a lasting impression on drivers and pedestrians.
