TXDOT Pedestrian Safety Initiative

We are seeking energetic and outgoing individuals to join our WALKR Street Team, an integral part of TxDOT’s statewide Pedestrian Safety initiative. This campaign features walking billboard teams deployed across all 25 TxDOT districts, focusing on cities with the highest rates of pedestrian-related traffic crashes. This initiative coincides with National Pedestrian Safety Month, aiming to remind both drivers and pedestrians to remain vigilant and look out for one another.

As a key member of the WALKR Street Team, you will represent TxDOT’s Pedestrian Safety initiative. Your primary role will involve wearing backpack billboards and walking predetermined routes at bustling intersections to establish a compelling visual presence. You will engage with drivers and pedestrians, distribute branded slap band giveaways, and activate campaign safety messages during traffic stops. Ensuring adherence to all routes and safety protocols is paramount. Most of your shift will be spent outdoors, requiring you to be actively walking and on your feet, all while maintaining a positive, approachable, and energetic demeanor to maximize community impact and campaign visibility.

Pay: $28.00/hr

What You’ll Do:

• Wear a backpack billboard while walking pre-determined routes at busy intersections.
• Be active, visible, and engaging throughout your shift; most of your time will be spent walking outdoors.
• Hand out branded slap band giveaways to drivers and pedestrians.
• Activate the campaign’s safety messages when cars are stopped at intersections.
• Follow walking paths and safety protocols provided for each activation.
• Work alongside your team and support the Team Lead with on-site needs.

What to Expect:

• Environment: You’ll be outdoors, on your feet, and moving the entire shift.
